Key Responsibilities
1. Hands-On BizTalk & ADF Pipeline Development
- Develop, test, and deploy end-to-end integration maps, orchestrations, pipelines, and schemas using Microsoft BizTalk Server (BizTalk Mapper, Orchestration Designer, Administration Console).
- Design, construct, and manage Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines, mapping data flows, copy activities, triggers, and integration runtimes for massive data ingestion, preparation, and transformation (ETL/ELT).
- Configure physical ports, adapters (such as SFTP, WCF-WebHttp, SAP, SQL), and EDI pipelines in BizTalk to facilitate secure, transactional data exchange.
- Integrate core systems, particularly SAP S/4HANA, with on-premises databases, Azure Blob/Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), and cloud data warehouses.
2. Implementation & Onboarding
- Execute technical connectivity setup and payload transformations for incoming data sources, commercial batch files, and transactional message patterns.
- Conduct volume, load, and performance testing on scheduled ETL jobs and real-time BizTalk workflows to ensure systems handle peak peak-season transaction spikes.
- Ensure all developed BizTalk artifacts and ADF JSON templates comply with corporate security standards (such as Azure Key Vault secrets, Managed Identities) and global integration blueprints.
3. Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Operations
- Monitor the health of BizTalk Server environments (Group Hub, suspended messages, tracking databases) and ADF monitoring dashboards (pipeline runs, activity states, and integration runtime performance).
- Provide rapid Level 2/3 technical support for runtime integration exceptions, pipeline timeouts, mapping translation errors, and database connection drops.
- Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) on failed pipeline schedules or suspended BizTalk host instances and implement robust structural fixes (such as retry patterns, error-alerting workflows, or caching).
- Maintain detailed mapping specification documents, data pipeline diagrams, deployment guidelines, and configuration scripts.
4. Technical Collaboration & Modernization
- Work under the mentorship of T2 Technical Architects to align BizTalk and ADF configurations with the wider Global Integration Hub architecture.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to modernize legacy point-to-point BizTalk interfaces into Azure cloud-native options (Azure Logic Apps, Service Bus, Azure Functions).
- Support environment administration, patch testing (BizTalk Cumulative Updates, ADF self-hosted integration runtimes), and automate deployments via CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
Required Experience & Qualifications
Technical Competency & Platform Expertise
- Integration Focus: 3+ years of direct, hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting integrations using Microsoft BizTalk Server (pipelines, orchestrations, maps) AND/OR Azure Data Factory (ADF pipelines, linked services, data flows).
- Formats & Mapping: Deep understanding of XML, XSLT, JSON, CSV, Flat Files, and query languages (SQL/T-SQL). Exposure to EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) is a major plus.
- Cloud Data Concepts: Familiarity with Azure storage (ADLS Gen2, Blob Storage), Azure SQL Database, and cloud data platform infrastructure.
- ERP/System Integration: Basic to intermediate knowledge of integrating BizTalk or ADF with ERP environments (such as SAP S/4HANA) using IDocs, RFCs, or OData services.
Industry & Domain Knowledge
- CPG/FMCG Familiarity: Experience working within a fast-moving consumer goods, retail, or logistics-heavy business environment.
- Supply Chain Processes: Good understanding of standard physical supply chain movements, primarily Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and warehouse operations.
Soft Skills & Collaboration
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a systematic, structured approach to debugging database timeouts, pipeline failures, and payload mismatches.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to coordinate technical pipeline dependencies smoothly with internal application owners and data scientists.
- Growth Mindset: High willingness to learn, adapt to cloud transition architectures, and expand skills into adjacent Azure integration and data services.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or equivalent practical work experience.
- Certifications in Microsoft Azure (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate – DP-203, or Azure Developer Associate) are highly regarded.
